Before SVB collapse, UK suggested loosening NSFR reporting for smaller banks

 

The fall of Silicon Valley Bank’s UK subsidiary has prompted doubts about a Bank of England plan to loosen liquidity rules for smaller banks, which was announced just weeks before the regional banking crisis gripped the US. The BoE’s Prudential Regulation Authority published a consultation paper on February 27 proposing reporting burdens for the net stable funding ratio (NSFR) could be reduced for so-called “simpler-regime” firms.
